18 Inch Vintage Doll Smock
Here are your instructions and tips for creating your very own vintage doll smock!
Step 1: Cutting your materials
Each kit comes with pre-shrunk and pressed cotton pieces and pre-cut pattern pieces with seam-allowance included. There are a few different ways you can cut your materials:
Pin the patterns pieces to the material and cut directly
Using tailor’s chalk or pencil, trace the cut lines directly onto the fabric
In this case, there’s no wrong way to cut your fabric pieces since the seam allowance has been included in the pattern pieces. Just make sure your pieces of cotton have been evenly folded and secured with pins or clips to keep them from shifting as you cut. When you have your smock pieces cut and ready to go, set them aside and begin preparing your bias tape.
Step 2: Making your bias tape
Bias tape is a great way to finish the raw edges of your clothes, and offers a chance to add a creative flourish when you learn to make your own (because you can make it out of any colors you want!)
