Daisies are some of the most popular granny square designs out there - and for very good reasons: representing sweetness, youth, and innocence, they are an easy motif to invoke in a dozen different ways.

Seriously, there’s no telling just how many different daises you can make with crochet!

This one is especially my favorite because of it’s simplicity - all you need is 2 different stitches. That’s it!

One of them is the “Pineapple” stitch (a type of bobble-stitch), so it you’re brand new to crocheting it can seem a little daunting at first glance. All doubts aside, though, trust me - once you learn the pineapple stitch, you will never go back. It’s that good!

Materials:

Instructions:

ch 3 then sl st to form a ring;
NOTE: this can be a tight ring to work with so go slowly; it can also be done with a 4 ch, if your fingers need a break!

ch 1 then insert hook into center ring sp, and SC 12;
sl st into the 1st sc of the rnd;

clip yarn and switch to color B; here you will complete a round of pineapple stitches to create the petals of the daisy;

For the first petal:

ch 2 then *wrap YOH and insert into the same sc;*
pull thru and repeat (*) once;
wrap YOH and pull through first 4 loops on the hook;
YOH then pull through the last 2 loops; ch 1;

For the next sc complete a full pineapple stitch:

*YOH and insert hook in sc; YOH and pull through st;*
Repeat (*) twice for a total of 7 loops on hook;
wrap YOH and pull thru first 5 loops;
YOH and pull thru last 2 loops; then ch 1;

Repeat Pineapple Stitch from step #4 in the next 10 sts for a total of 12 petals;

at the end of rnd, sl st into the top of the 1st pineapple; switch to color C;

sl st into first ch sp, then ch 3;
Dc 2 into the same ch sp (ch counts as 1 dc);
Dc 3 into the next 2 ch sp;
*Ch 3 then dc 3 into the next 3 ch sp;*
Repeat (*) twice, then ch 3 after last dc; sl st into the 3rd st of starting ch;
NOTE: you should have a total of 9 dc on each side of square
