I have what I like to call “itchy-fingers” - meaning that, once I start a new project (of any kind!) I instantly want to make it myself.
And it doesn’t even really matter what the final project is; if it’s made of thread and fabric in any capacity, it’s fair game.
The only downside to that quirk- you end up with a lot of different projects. And usually all at once…
Let me explain:
Crochet Rosette Lapel Pin; circa 2021
A few years ago I was obsessed with crocheting roses. OBSESSED!
I don’t know why I was so intent on learning how to make them - I think has to do with my family; my grandfather used to grow them for my grandmother, and several varieties are still noted family favorites.
But once I figured out a beginner-friendly pattern, I started making roses… and then couldn’t stop for about 2 or 3 years.
So eventually the “itchy-fingers” passed, and I could stop making flowers for a while. Of course, that ended up leaving with me something of my own rose garden to tend to (or in my case, to find new homes for!)
“Rainbow Rose Wreath”; circa 2020
Note: the petals are pointed because I was testing out different ways to spruce up flowers.
But before I started selling off my “rose garden”, I switched gears a little bit later and turned my attention to something I always needed to have handy:
Key-Chains!
Assorted Key Chains and Wristlets; circa 2023
This endeavor presented itself as a challenge on two-fronts:
I had never worked with cotton yarn before; but that was the recommended material by several other creatives, due to cotton’s strength.
I was starting to feel overwhelmed by how much material was still in my stash - and really, really needed to start clearing out my yarns!
