Christmas Galore
Handicraft and holidays have always gone hand-in-hand in my household (Wholly Alliteration!); ever since I was a little girl, there was always a craft-station ready to go starting around mid-November.
And as I got older, and especially started refining my crocheting skills, that little table eventually turned into the bonus-room over my parents’ garage…
Where I do my best to make a little “Christmas-magic” every year…
My favorite project every year, is when I sit down (typically around mid-July) and crochet as many snowflakes as I possibly can before my ganglia nodes flare up (don’t worry, they don’t hurt - they’re just kind of ugly to look at).
My first batch of “Christmas Snow” (circa 2022);
Note the old logo and name on the tags!
I typically don’t follow any set pattern when I make my snowflakes; with the 5-pointed, “Christmas Star,” being the only exception. I prefer to go off-pattern-book when making them because it mirrors how snowflakes are actually made in nature: no two snowflakes are ever perfectly identical.
My snowflakes were SUPER popular the first year I started selling them. And I got so many wonderful complements from all kinds of people! I even got to swap a few stories with some ladies about how their mothers and grandmothers used to make them, too, for their Christmas trees.
But, as much as the snowflake decorations are my favorite, I don’t like to limit myself to just one of anything (because the power of my ADHD compels me!)
And as recently as this year (2025), I’ve been able to use more of my up-cycling skills to create some very special keepsakes!
