Circle Center Square (sample size)
This is the first style of granny square I really cut my teeth on when I started crocheting. Great for first-timers, it’s a wonderful way to practice working in rounds (rnds) - this can get a little confusing for those who are just starting out, so having a granny square that allows you bite-sized pieces of practice can make things run a little smoother.
NOTE: This pattern is specifically designed to make a sample size version of circle-center, for ease of learning for beginners. To learn the full-size version of this granny square, please check out this tutorial on the studio’s YouTube channel.
Stitches/Abbreviations you will need:
slip stitch (sl st)
chain stitch (ch)
single crochet (sc)
double crochet (dc)

Instructions:
ch 5 then sl st ends together to make ring;
ch 3 (counts as 1st dc), then dc 11 into the center space of the ring;
sl st last dc into the 3rd st of ch;
to start next rnd, ch 1; then sc 1 into the same st;
Sc into the next dc, then ch 2; sc into the next dc, without skipping any stitches; sc 2;
<ch 2, sc 3> across the rnd; ch 2 to turn the last corner;
Then, sc 1 into the last dc and sl st into the starting ch;
For last rnd, ch 3 then dc into the first sc; dc into the next sc, and then again into the 1st ch sp;
Ch 2 to turn corner, and dc 1 again into the same ch sp;
<dc 5, ch 2> across rnd; turn last corner with ch 2;
Finally, dc 1 into ch sp, and 1 into sc; sl st into 3rd st of starting ch;
Clip yarn and secure st to finish the square.
