Decorative Slip Stitch Swatch
Next up in our little swatch series, we’re going to tackle the “slip stitch.” Well… sort of. I call this one the decorative slip stitch, because when I first came across it in my little pattern book, I kept confusing it with the actual slip stitch; in this swatch the stitch is used more frequently than other patterns I’ve used, but it’s purely for a decorative purpose. This combination of single crochet and slip stitches creates a very textured look, and has a distinct “right” and “wrong” side compared to our first swatch. This one is especially great for practicing your sl st, especially if you’re new to crocheting; you’ll get your practice hours in without feeling discouraged by tackling a solid slip stitch swatch (trust me, I’ve been there- I see you!)
