The “Seed Stitch” (Crochet Swatch)

To begin this new series, we’re getting our feet wet with one of the easiest stitch patterns: the “seed stitch.” Made from a combination of single crochet (sc) and chaining (ch), this stitch is great for making loose-woven fabrics, such as for full summer tops or stash-buster dishcloths. This pattern is also a great way to familiarize yourself with the rhythm of other techniques, like tapestry- and lace-crochet, without the pressure of trying to complete an intricate pattern.

Stitches used: Chain & chaining (ch.)

Single crochet (sc.)

Hook size: 10/J

Yarn weight: medium weight (4)
