Sometimes called a Granny Cluster stitch (because of connection to traditional granny squares), this type of block stitch lends itself really well to all kinds of shapes, but especially aligns nicely with your collection of granny squares. (I also have to apologize for the instructions’ weird font. I think I hit a button during editing, and still have no idea what I did!)
