Easy Crochet Hearts
Whoever first invented this concept - I want to walk up to them and give them the biggest bear-hug possible! I love making crochet hearts! They can be applied to literally anything, worked into your crochet project, and can be created through an infinite number of ways - I can not oversell this motif!
This pattern will be dedicated to the easiest form of crochet hearts - one that is only made up of 2-3 rounds, and designed to be flexible and modified (depending on your project).
Materials:
Size H-8 crochet hook
medium-weight yarn (remnants recommended)
Snips
1/4 inch Ribbon (OPT.)
Instructions:
Ch. 5 and sl st closed to make a ring;
Then ch. 2 and DC 10 into the center space of the ring;
Sl st at the start of your first rnd, then ch 3. Then, use 1 stitch counter to mark the 5th dc;
For the second rnd:*2 TBC & 1 DC into the first st; 2 DC into the next st; 1 dc and 1 hdc into the third st, and 2 hdc into the fourth st; finally, 1 hdc and 1 dc into the fifth st* and ch 1 (This will be the ‘point’ of the heart.)
To complete the other half of the heart, repeat (*) from #4 in reverse order:
1 dc and 1 hdc in st #6;
2 hdc in st #7;
1 hdc and 1 dc in st #8;
2 dc in st #9;
1 dc and 2 tbc in st #10;To close the rnd, ch 2 then sl st into the starting sl st; Clip and tuck yarn to finish;
(Opt.) Before clipping yarn, chain 20 and sl st to create a built in hanger. Or, slip 8-10 inch length of ribbon and slip through the center space of the heart.
